Do I need a referral to see you?
Yes, if you wish to claim a Medicare rebate. You’ll need both a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and a referral letter from your GP. You can still attend without a referral, but you will not be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
How much does each session cost?
Sessions are $200.00 AUD for 50 minutes. With a valid MHCP and referral, you’ll receive a $145.25 Medicare rebate, making the out-of-pocket gap $54.75 AUD. Please visit our FEES AND REBATES page for more information and CONTACT US if you have any further questions.
How many sessions does Medicare cover?
You can access up to 10 Medicare-rebated sessions per calendar year – 6 initially, followed by a review with your GP to access the remaining 4. While you can attend more sessions, they will not be covered by Medicare, and therefore will require you to pay full fees.
Can I claim private health insurance instead of Medicare?
We do not currently process private health insurance claims. Medicare rebates are available if you meet the referral criteria.
How do I book an appointment?
Start by visiting your GP to get a Mental Health Care Plan and referral. Then, email the documents to us at chistapsychology@yahoo.com. Once received, we’ll be in touch to send pre-session paperwork. If everything is in order, we will give you the all clear to book in your appointment using our online client portal. Do you provide reports for court or legal purposes?
No. We do not offer medico-legal assessments, court reports, or evaluations for legal proceedings.
Are all appointments online?
Yes, all sessions are delivered via secure telehealth. Telehealth allows you to consult a healthcare provider by phone or a video call. You can find more information on Telehealth HERE.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is private and confidential, except where legally required (e.g. risk of harm to self or others). We also provide brief updates to your referring GP as required by Medicare.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please reach out to us within 48 hours. You can do this through either email (chistapsychology@yahoo.com) or text (0469 732 320). Cancellation Policy: 48 Hours – No Fee, 24 Hours – $100 AUD, Same Day/No Show – Full Session Fee.
What should I do in a crisis?
Chista Psychological Services is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate distress, please call call Lifeline (13 11 14), the Mental Health Triage (13 14 65), or Emergency Services (000).
Are you able to provide me with clinical supervision?
As an AHPRA board-approved supervisor, Dr Ebrahim Rezaei can provide clinical supervision to psychologists and clinical psychology registrars. Clinical supervision can be scheduled regularly or on a needs-basis. Appointments can be held via an online platform.
